I live part time in a small agricultural community in Wyoming where I am in awe of the landscape around me. Light changes quickly, colors are intense, and distant forms have mystery.

This feeling permeates my senses, from my eyes to my gut, a merge of inner and outer experience.

The scale, the size — mountains, sky, land forms, weather all so much bigger than I am. I feel both small and large, both overwhelmed and confident, both alert and at ease.

I am filled with reverence, even a little fear.  Surely beauty.

My challenge as I stand in front of my canvas: how do I capture the awe?
